Everyday, i'll buy a copy of Newpaper. This is a habit which started since my secondary school days. This morning was no difference. I went to the petrol kiosk, grab a Newpaper.
It read: M'SIAN TOURISM BOSS: CHILLI CRAB, CHICKEN RICE IS OURS
lol... i read on... and this is how it goes,
"Chilli crab, Hainanese chicken rice, even laks: Created in Malaysia, owned by Malaysia, but hijack by other countries" Is Malaysia tired of peaceful life?
Firstly, the Rasa Sayang claim causes an uproar with the indonesians. Now what? Singapore? And who's going to be the next target? perhaps buddha or Jesus is born in Malaysia?
Come on, to most people, it may be just food claims. A Singaporean, i felt that Malaysia is like throwing claim to everything. No respect to the neighbouring countries? Perhaps... Trying to stir troubles? Perhaps... Trying to be the culture king in Asean? Probably. If not, what else?
I personally, like some of the malaysian food. This includes Ramly burger, Ipoh hor fun, their very own herbal taste bak kut teh (this is very diff from our very own spicy pepperish bak kut teh, which they claim tooriginate from there too), wan ton mee, etc. well, u see, they have their own special dishes? Now, who's hijacking other countries' stuffs?
Singapore, known for some of her tasty food like Hainanese chicken ricem bak kut teh and chilli crab, are world knowned. I once, went to Taiwan, and had the Taiwanese people telling me how much they love singapore's food. Now? Malaysia trying to hijack our stuffs? Things that are being promoted for years or even decades, money spent, effort prt in, are now to be taken away by a cheap claim? come on, state the facts, and stop laying claims on everything, Malaysia. You have ur own heritage, so do us, Singapore and our neighbour, Indonesia.
Cheers!
Charm: The biggest of the piracy doesn't come from people purchasing, but those who steal from others, big time!
